Qualifications
- Minimum bachelor’s degree.
Experience
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in IT Operations.
Scope of the Job
- Running all operational tasks on all mission-critical banking applications.
- Monitor and ensure service availability for 24x7 hours.
- Take data backups of all business applications.
- Ensure data replication from main sites to the DR site (Bahrain and London).
- Escalate user-reported and system/application faults.
- Take over first-level help desk responsibility after normal working hours.
- Support other IT teams.
Areas of Knowledge / Experience
- Data Center Operations experience in monitoring, incident handling, and escalation.
- Experience working in the banking or financial institutions sector.
- Working knowledge of databases like Oracle and SQL Server.
- IT certifications in Windows, Linux, SQL, etc., will be an added advantage.
- Non-IT certifications such as ITIL are a plus.
Principal Responsibilities
- Running IT operations including End of Days, Start of Day, backups, restores, and replication.
- Knowledge of bank operation procedures to support the bank around the clock.
- Familiarity with operating systems including Windows, Solaris, and Linux.
- Understanding hardware components and their functions.
- Knowledge of bank data replication procedures.
- Proficient in using help desk applications.
- Ability to manage and maintain backup/restore procedures.
- Monitor database performance and tune memory, I/O, SQL, etc., escalating when necessary.
- Perform database recovery in case of failure.
- Knowledge of how to activate and operate disaster recovery centers.
- Monitor and escalate database growth and disk space issues.
- Monitor and escalate alert log files for possible database problems.
- Monitor offline and online cold backups using Veritas NetBackup and VEEAM software.
- Monitor alerts and job flows on Control-M.
