This role is ideal for a software engineer with a strong passion for compilers, runtimes, and tool chains. You will build a meaningful career working with exceptional individuals in open-source technology at Canonical, contributing to making Ubuntu the best operating system for developing and running C/C++ applications.

As part of the Ubuntu Foundations team, you will be working on essential toolchains that are critical to Ubuntu and the broader software ecosystem, leveraging your C and C++ expertise to enhance Ubuntu’s capabilities.

Location: Jiddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia (Remote)

Work Conditions:

  • Remote work opportunity within the EMEA region.
  • Global travel of 2 to 4 weeks per year for internal and external events.
  • Full-time position.

Requirements:

  • Relevant experience with GCC or LLVM, ideally in cloud-native software and Linux.
  • Experience packaging software for Debian and Ubuntu.
  • A long-time Linux user with a strong academic background in technical subjects or a compelling alternative narrative.
  • Passionate, curious, and self-motivated with excellent soft skills.
  • Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events, each lasting up to two weeks.
