About the Role
The Systems Administrator II is responsible for the administration and operational support of servers, workstations, and applications within a Windows Active Directory environment. This candidate will coordinate, troubleshoot, and oversee system backups, hardware and software installations, as well as system upgrades. The role requires individuals to solve complex technology problems, providing effective solutions and mentorship to both internal and external customers, positively impacting the day-to-day efficiencies. The Systems Administrator must maintain exceptional conduct and discipline while effectively communicating with a diverse workforce to perform assigned tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain all aspects of server administration, including Microsoft 2008 Active Directory, Windows Internet Name Service (WINS), Domain Name System (DNS), Domain Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), print queues, etc.
  • Responsible for daily administration of Exchange servers (2008 or higher) and Outlook Web Access (OWA).
  • Manage Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS), Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM), Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM), Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), and Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS).
  • Use VERITAS Backup Exec to conduct file server backup and restores.
  • Maintain systems availability and perform regular equipment maintenance.
  • Conduct hardware maintenance and troubleshoot various vendor server platforms including Dell, HP, LTO tape library, fiber switch, and SANs.
  • Maintain antivirus and security requirements as per US Army standards and regulations.
  • Provide user and Microsoft Exchange account maintenance as required.
  • Establish shift schedules and perform employee appraisals and training records in accordance with the company Leadership guide.
  • Perform other duties and assignments as required.

Qualifications

  • Security Clearance:
    • Requires an active Secret Clearance.
  • Education / Certifications:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology (IT).
    • One year of related experience may substitute for one year of education if a degree is required.
    • Candidates must adhere to DoD 8570.01M and maintain at least one (1) baseline certification and one (1) computing environment (CE) certification.
    • Authorized certifications include:
      • Baseline:
        • Cisco: CCNA, CCNP
        • CompTIA: CASP+ ce, CySA+ ce, Security+ ce
        • GIAC: GCED, GCIH, GICSP, GSEC
        • ISACA: CISA
        • ISC2: CISSP or Associate, SSCP
      • Computing Environment (CE):
        • CompTIA: Server+, CySA+ ce
        • Microsoft: Various
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of five (5) years of experience with Windows Server 2012 or higher OS and Active Directory tools.
    • Expertise in IAT Level I and II functions in a Windows Server operating system environment.
    • Candidates should apply extensive knowledge of Information Assurance (IA) field concepts and security principles to ensure the secure integration and operation of systems.
  • Supervisory / Budgetary Responsibilities:
    • Preferred two years of supervisory or lead experience.
    • Responsibilities include managing employee schedules, training compliance, evaluations, and maintaining safety inspections.

Working Environment

  • 95% indoors, 5% outdoors, with outdoor conditions potentially exceeding 100 Degrees F.

Physical Activities

  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be capable of wearing Personal Protective Equipment (helmet and plated vest) weighing 25 to 40 lbs for extended periods.
