Key Responsibilities
- Define and manage system-level requirements and interfaces for electromechanical and electrohydraulic actuation systems
- Develop architecture diagrams, requirement traceability, and interface control documents (ICDs)
- Support actuator selection, integration, and performance trade-off studies
- Ensure alignment with platform-level constraints: power, thermal, control, and mechanical packaging
- Lead system validation through simulation, lab tests, ground, and flight testing
- Execute V&V plans for response time, environmental qualification (DO-160, MIL-STD-810), and lifecycle performance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including avionics, flight control, and airframe design
- Conduct root cause analysis and corrective action planning during development or operational phases
- Participate in FMEA, hazard analysis, and system reliability assessments
- Support internal and external design reviews (PDR, CDR) and maintain documentation and compliance records
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Aerospace, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering (required)
- Experience: Minimum 10 years in aerospace/defense engineering; at least 5 years working directly with actuation systems in UAVs, aircraft, missiles, or robotic platforms
- Certifications: INCOSE ASEP or CSEP (preferred); OEM training or certifications in actuator or control systems (beneficial); familiarity with AS9100D / ISO 9001 (preferred)
Technical Tools
- System modeling: MATLAB/Simulink, Simscape, Amesim
- CAD: CATIA, NX, or SolidWorks
- Aerospace standards: DO-160, MIL-STD-461, ARP4754A, DO-178C/DO-254
- Documentation & traceability: Requirement management tools (e.g., DOORS)
