Responsibilities
Key Task:
Deliver lessons that inspire students to succeed, achieving the best possible outcomes.
Roles and Responsibilities Include:

  • Teamwork and collaboration
  • Effective communication at all levels
  • Developing positive relationships with all members of the school community
  • Collaborating with fellow teachers to plan engaging lessons aligned with curriculum requirements
  • Liaising with colleagues and working flexibly
  • Collaborating with parents to ensure satisfaction and optimal academic outcomes for children
  • Working cooperatively with curriculum support staff to support child development

Teaching and Learning:

  • Have a clear understanding of the curriculum
  • Organize classroom provisions and learning resources and create displays to encourage a positive learning environment
  • Plan, prepare, and present lessons that cater to the needs of all abilities within the class
  • Motivate pupils with enthusiastic and imaginative teaching
  • Observe and assess children in line with school assessments
  • Reflect on and adjust classroom provision and teaching methods based on progress made
  • Engage with other professionals (such as therapists and psychologists) when required
  • Ensure teachers and learner attitudes are consistently embedded throughout the curriculum

Assessment and Data:

  • Take responsibility for the progress of a class
  • Meet assessment and recording requirements for student development using Target Tracker
  • Use assessment data to influence further planning, provision, and interventions
  • Provide feedback to parents and carers on student progress during conferences and meetings

Behaviour Management and Duties:

  • Adhere to the school’s behaviour policy
  • Manage classroom dynamics effectively, employing appropriate approaches to motivate and challenge students
  • Foster positive relationships with pupils and exercise authority as necessary within the behaviour policy
  • Serve as a positive role model, consistently displaying the expected attitudes, values, and behaviour
  • Maintain high expectations of behaviour, promoting self-control and independence in all learners
  • Carry out assigned duties as directed under school policy

Wider Professional Responsibilities:

  • Participate in curriculum action groups when appropriate, supporting planning, assessments, resources, and special events
  • Organize and participate in school events, outings, and activities, which may occur on weekends or evenings
  • Communicate effectively with parents/carers regarding student achievements and well-being
  • Contribute positively to the wider life and ethos of the school
  • Run a weekly extracurricular activity each term

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related subject with PGCE or an equivalent teaching qualification
    Minimum Experience:
  • 1-2 years of teaching experience
    Job-Specific Knowledge & Skills:
  • Experience working with students for whom English is a second language
  • Passion for teaching with a commitment to holistic child education
  • High professionalism and consideration for child welfare
  • Recent and consistent involvement in extracurricular activities
  • Respect for all members of the school community regardless of position or background
  • A positive, solution-focused approach to work
  • A clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check or police verification
