Candidates must possess secure knowledge of teaching the English National Curriculum and GCSE. Experience teaching students for whom English is not their first language is advantageous. Potential candidates must demonstrate a proven track record of implementing effective strategies to improve standards and close gaps in learning to ensure outstanding progress for all students. They should exhibit leadership skills at various levels and show effectiveness in collaborative teamwork. Successful candidates will align closely with our core values and ethos and exhibit genuine understanding and appreciation of the regional values.
Responsibilities
As a Teacher of Computing/ICT, you will be responsible for planning outstanding teaching and learning in line with the school’s Teaching and Learning Policy through:
- Creating a climate conducive to outstanding practice.
- Identifying clear teaching and learning objectives.
- Setting clear targets, building on prior attainment.
- Identifying SEN (POD), EAL, and G&T students and ensuring their needs are met through differentiation.
- Providing a clear structure and planning for lessons and learning activities that maintain pace, challenge, and engagement.
- Making effective use of assessment for learning.
- Utilizing performance data and key indicators to inform planning and deliver differentiated lessons.
- Enhancing learning and progress through effective use of ICT.
- Maintaining discipline in accordance with the school’s ‘Behaviour for Learning Policy’ and promoting good practices regarding punctuality, behaviour, standards of work, and homework.
- Assessing how well learning objectives have been achieved to refine teaching and learning.
- Marking students' work regularly and setting targets for progress, consistent with the school’s Marking Policy.
- Systematically assessing and recording students' progress and maintaining records; using performance data to inform planning and student learning.
- Undertaking assessments of students as requested by exam bodies, departmental, and school procedures.
- Preparing and presenting informative reports to parents.
- Attending and supporting parent/student events.
- Participating in subject development by producing, reviewing, and updating curriculum plans and schemes of work.
- Meeting with other professionals such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists, as required.
- Performing any other duties as assigned by the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
Requirements
- Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in a related subject with PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Minimum Experience:
• At least 2 years of experience as a Computing/Computer Science/ICT Teacher in the English Curriculum.
