The purpose of this position is to manage the network infrastructure and tech support processes throughout the NEOM Community School. This influential role combines strategic network administration with comprehensive technical support to ensure a robust and seamless technology ecosystem. By overseeing network infrastructure, servers, and support systems, the Tech Infrastructure Support Lead plays a key role in facilitating an advanced educational environment. From optimizing connectivity to providing expert technical assistance, this position is instrumental in shaping a technological landscape that empowers both educators and students on their learning journey.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES
Network Infrastructure Management:
- Design, implement, and manage the school's wired and wireless network infrastructure.
- Perform regular assessments of network performance and make recommendations for improvements.
- Ensure the security and integrity of the network by implementing appropriate measures.
- Monitor and analyze network traffic to optimize efficiency and identify potential issues.
- Implement and maintain network security measures to protect against unauthorized access and cyber threats.
- Conduct regular security audits and respond to security incidents promptly.
- Collaborate with other IT professionals to develop and enforce security policies.
- Administer user accounts, permissions, and access policies for network resources.
- Set up and maintain email distribution lists and databases.
- Manage user authentication and access control systems.
- Provide technical support for network-related issues to end-users.
Hardware and Software Integration:
- Work with vendors to procure, install, and configure network hardware and software.
- Collaborate with the IT team to integrate network systems with other technology infrastructure.
- Assist in the planning and execution of hardware and software upgrades.
Technical Support:
- Provide technical support and assistance to end-users, troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software-related issues promptly and effectively.
- Provide resolutions to incidents raised through the helpdesk system.
- Oversee the setup and management of the school's sound system for regular events.
- Ensure the seamless functioning of audio equipment during school events, meetings, and special occasions.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, procedures, and policies.
- Generate reports on network performance, incidents, and security status.
- Provide regular updates to the Educational Technology Manager on network-related activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand educational technology requirements.
- Provide training and guidance to end-users on network usage, best practices, and IT policies.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive environment for technology integration in the educational process.
- Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies in networking.
- Evaluate new tools and solutions to enhance the school's network infrastructure.
- Propose innovative ideas to improve network performance, security, and reliability.
BACKGROUND, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in network administration, preferably in an educational setting.
- Solid knowledge of operating systems: Windows, MacOS, and iOS.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Proficiency in networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs).
- Experience in the design, implementation, and maintenance of wired and wireless networks.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze and diagnose network issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with students, teachers, administrators, and other staff members.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA) are a plus.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
