As a Technical Lead, you will lead our development efforts in building cross-platform peer-to-peer applications using the Pear Runtime and the broader ecosystem created by Holepunch. Your responsibilities will include defining technical direction, supporting engineers in daily development, serving as the main liaison with Holepunch engineers, translating upstream developments into actionable work, coordinating releases, and contributing to the evolution of our peer-to-peer ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary technical liaison between our development team and Holepunch engineers.
  • Lead knowledge-sharing sessions to ensure all teams are up-to-date.
  • Build and maintain flagship desktop (Electron) and mobile (React Native) applications that operate fully peer-to-peer.
  • Design compelling cross-platform UX for file sharing, messaging, video calls, and collaborative tools.
  • Integrate and extend the Pear Runtime / Holepunch stack (Hypercore, Hyperdrive, Hyperswarm).
  • Rapidly ship new features, participate in code reviews, write tests, and optimize performance.
  • Assist external partners and the open-source community in building on the platform.
  • Contribute improvements and bug fixes back to the underlying open-source modules.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Strong production experience with React Native and/or Electron.
  • Experience leading small development teams and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Comfortable with Node.js and modern JavaScript/TypeScript ecosystems.
  • Proven experience in designing and building local-first applications.
  • Hands-on experience with local-first data technologies.
  • Familiarity with end-to-end encryption and secure local storage.
  • Proficient in Git, CI/CD, and collaborative open-source workflows.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential for our fully remote global team.
  • Fluent in English.
