As the Technical Lead, you will be accountable for the technical execution and quality of delivery within the Service Market Making Business Unit. Your responsibilities include acting as the technical point of accountability, balancing strategic thinking with pragmatic delivery, championing collaboration across teams, and inspiring and developing engineers through mentorship and technical guidance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive Delivery and Alignment: Partner with the Head of Engineering to oversee delivery of entire work-streams.
- Balance Code and Leadership: Contribute directly through coding while focusing on architecture design and communication.
- Mentor and Elevate Engineers: Provide feedback through design and code reviews and support skill development.
- Technical Leadership: Guide system design, ensuring scalability and resilience.
- Maintain Standards: Uphold best practices and partner with QA to ensure automation and validation in the delivery pipeline.
- Codebase Health: Manage technical debt and lead refactoring initiatives.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, designers, and QA engineers to define scope and plan delivery.
- Risk Management: Anticipate technical risks and propose mitigation strategies.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years in a Technical Leadership role with expertise in high-concurrency, low-latency trading systems.
- Advanced proficiency in Rust; knowledge of Node.js and Python is a plus.
- Experience with data-intensive architectures and real-time data pipelines.
- Proven track record in deploying and optimising AWS environments.
- Familiarity with containerisation and managing Kubernetes clusters.
- Strong command of software engineering best practices, including Agile methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage stakeholders effectively.
