About the Role
As part of the Design & Engineering function, you will be primarily responsible for the technical planning and design of audio systems for projects within Event Production. Collaborating closely with the project team and supporting units, you will translate creative and project requirements into practical, accurate, and buildable technical solutions. A key aspect of this role will involve developing technical drawings using Vectorworks, ensuring that audio systems are meticulously planned and coordinated with other technical disciplines for successful onsite implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the technical planning and design of audio systems for Event Production projects, from initial concept and tender stages through detailed design, production, installation, and delivery.
  • Translate project briefs, creative concepts, and operational requirements into practical and technically sound audio solutions.
  • Develop detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings in Vectorworks, including system layouts, equipment positioning, cable routing, infrastructure requirements, rigging interfaces, and other relevant technical details.
  • Prepare audio system designs, signal flow diagrams, equipment specifications, technical schematics, patching information, and supporting technical documentation.
  • Carry out technical calculations and planning required to ensure appropriate system coverage, performance, equipment selection, infrastructure, and integration.
  • Coordinate audio designs with other technical disciplines, including lighting, video, and rigging, to ensure fully integrated technical solutions.
  • Review venue drawings, architectural plans, production designs, and other project documentation to identify technical requirements, constraints, interfaces, and potential risks.
  • Support the preparation of equipment lists, technical aspects, scope of work, and supplier/subcontractor requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with the project team to ensure technical solutions align with project scope, programme, budget, and operational requirements.
  • Support tendering and pre-production activities by developing technical concepts, drawings, specifications, and equipment requirements for proposed projects.
  • Liaise with internal teams, external suppliers, manufacturers, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders to clarify technical requirements and resolve design or coordination matters.
  • Review supplier and subcontractor technical submissions and drawings to ensure alignment with the approved technical design and project requirements.
  • Identify potential technical risks, clashes, and installation challenges at an early stage and develop practical solutions to mitigate them.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date drawing packages and technical documentation throughout the project lifecycle, incorporating design changes and project updates as required.
  • Support project teams during installation, commissioning, rehearsals, and onsite delivery where required, providing technical guidance and resolving design-related issues.
  • Ensure technical designs comply with relevant industry standards, safety requirements, manufacturer recommendations, and quality standards.
  • Contribute to the continuous development of technical planning standards, drawing templates, workflows, and best practices within the Design & Engineering team.
  • Stay informed about developments in professional audio technology, system design, software, equipment, and industry practices.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in technical planning, audio system design, audio engineering, or a similar technical role within live events, entertainment, experiential, broadcast, theatre, or related industries.
  • Strong technical understanding of professional audio systems, including loudspeaker systems, amplification, digital audio networks, signal distribution, mixing systems, processing, communications, and associated infrastructure.
  • Strong proficiency in Vectorworks and experience producing detailed technical drawings for live events or entertainment environments.
  • Solid understanding of audio system design principles, signal flow, system integration, and equipment selection.
  • Experience coordinating audio requirements with other production disciplines such as lighting, video, rigging, staging, power, and structures.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Comfortable working independently while also being an active contributor within the wider Design & Engineering and Event Production teams.
  • Previous experience working on projects within the Middle East and/or in an international event production environment.
  • Degree, diploma, or relevant technical qualification in Audio Engineering, Sound Engineering, Technical Production, Event Technology, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
