Core Accountabilities
- Define project scope, milestones, deliverables, and resource plans.
- Lead the execution of technical projects from concept to completion.
- Manage cross-functional teams, ensuring tasks are aligned and progress is on track.
- Mentor and guide engineers and project staff to meet technical and schedule goals.
- Serve as the main point of contact between engineering, clients, suppliers, and management.
- Ensure clear communication of expectations, progress, and changes.
Responsibilities
- Identify risks early and implement mitigation plans.
- Address technical and project-related issues proactively.
- Monitor project budgets, resource allocation, and cost control.
- Report deviations and take corrective actions when needed.
- Ensure technical quality and compliance with engineering standards and customer requirements.
- Oversee critical reviews, validation activities, and integration efforts.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, schedules, and status reports.
- Provide regular updates to senior management and stakeholders.
- Capture lessons learned and implement process improvements for future projects.
- Provide guidance, clarify requirements, and help remove technical blockers.
- Facilitate coordination between engineering, procurement, production, and quality teams.
Education / Experience
Minimum Requirement
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Systems), or a related technical field.
Preferred
- Master’s Degree in Engineering, Project Management, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile/Scrum are highly valued.
- Coursework or credentials in business, risk management, or engineering management are beneficial.
Minimum Experience
- 7+ years managing technical projects or leading engineering workstreams.
- Must have solid understanding of the relevant industry (e.g., aerospace, defense, automotive) and its engineering practices.
- Knowledge of project lifecycle phases: design, development, testing, production, and delivery.
- Familiarity with industry standards and compliance requirements (e.g., ISO, ASME, MIL-STD, FAA, or other sector-specific regulations).
- Competency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, technical specifications, and documentation.
