Position

The Technical Superintendent is responsible for the overall management and technical operations of vessels under his responsibility. This includes overseeing daily maintenance and repair, budgeting, survey scheduling, onboard assessments, inspections, and docking when required. The Superintendent ensures that Company-owned and managed vessels operate safely, efficiently, and economically while complying fully with Class and Statutory regulations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining the vessels' classification status and ensuring monthly survey status reports are sent to the vessels.
  • Supporting and monitoring on-board Planned Preventive Maintenance for effective management.
  • Ensuring the Planned Maintenance System (PMS) operates in line with company standards and procedures.
  • Managing the budget for technical elements of the assigned vessels.
  • Overseeing the installation and certification of third-party equipment on vessels.
  • Liaising with Vessel Masters and Chief Engineers, providing technical advice and assistance as needed.
  • Identifying and sourcing technical and operational supplies for vessels.
  • Coordinating and supervising service repairs via approved subcontractors, ensuring timely completion.
  • Preparing vessel dry-dock specifications and supervising dry-dockings and repairs.
  • Providing written reports detailing repairs, dry-docking activities, and associated costs.
  • Ensuring all repairs and dockings information is updated in the PMS system.
  • Engaging with customers on technical and operational matters regarding vessel performance.
  • Collaborating with the Purchasing department to track and expedite requisitions.
  • Monitoring minimum spare requirements and performing monthly reviews of logs.
  • Managing the Technical Library, ensuring all vessel plans and drawings are updated.

Work Conditions:

  • On-site, full-time position.
  • Dry dockings and repairs may take place at remote locations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Unlimited STCW ’95 Chief Engineer’s license (Motor) for sea-going vessels, or an Engineering degree/diploma in mechanics/electromechanical engineering.

Language Requirements:

  • Proficiency in relevant technical terminology and effective communication with stakeholders is essential.
