Position

Element has an opportunity for a Technician to be involved in testing, sample preparation, and the delivery/collection of samples along with the preparation of test reports. Candidates should ideally have significant experience in construction material testing, preferably with a commercial test house or contractor.

Responsibilities:

  • Adhere strictly to the Element - Middle East & Asia-Pacific Laboratory Management System and ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.
  • Conduct routine laboratory tests, analysis, monitoring, sampling, or machining following authorized technical competency.
  • Maintain registry and update logs in Excel and Word.
  • Generate reports or worksheets using MS Office applications as necessary.
  • Uphold good laboratory housekeeping standards.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions immediately to the Supervisor or Manager.
  • Maintain accurate records of all technical work.
  • Follow the equipment maintenance schedule as directed.
  • Complete administrative tasks promptly and highlight unreliable data to management.
  • Assist in the testing and analysis of non-routine samples as directed.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety procedures and systems.
  • Participate in hazard identification and risk assessment activities.
  • Monitor health and safety within the work section and report all hazards, near misses, and accidents.

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Possess a diploma or degree, preferably in a science-related field.
  • Proficiency in MS Office for reporting and sample logging is required.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with clients during on-site activities.
  • Adherence to laboratory quality practices, including the calibration of equipment, accurate documentation, and proper test request procedures.
  • Experience with audits by external accreditation bodies is highly preferred.
  • Capable of assigning tasks to assistant technicians for sample preparation and curing activities.
