Trainee Cloud Engineer

About the Job:

The Cloud Engineer is a key component of the Rackspace support infrastructure, responsible for delivering high levels of technical support to customers via phone, ticketing systems, and automation. This role involves owning complex customer issues that may take several days or weeks to resolve, while keeping customers informed throughout the process.

The position supports both internal and external customers across multiple platforms, working closely with customers and various teams to troubleshoot environments, enhance user satisfaction, and resolve issues. The Cloud Engineer will develop tooling and processes to improve customer experience, create playbooks, and mentor support teams on customer-related issues.

Additional responsibilities include:

• Contributing to functional business continuity and transformational projects.
• Acting as a technical point of escalation for the Cloud Support teams.
• Assisting in problem management, process improvement, and reporting related to customer infrastructure.
• Collaborating with stakeholders and enhancing customer relationships.

Skills & Knowledge Requirements:

• Entry level knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, Openstack).
• Basic understanding of OS-specific web hosts and database technologies (MSSQL/IIS for Windows, MYSQL/APACHE for Linux).
• Familiarity with Agile/Lean Development practices and various tools (CI/CD, Cloud Automation, Networking).
• Technical troubleshooting skills.
• Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a related field.
• An associate-level certification in one or more cloud platforms/products is required.
