We are seeking engineering leaders who value quality, performance, and resilience in software and have a proven track record in building and nurturing high-performing engineering teams. This position is suitable for both managers and Senior+ engineers, where technical engagement and leadership in software projects are required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead teams to enhance the Linux developer and user experience.
- Design, build, and ship high-quality, performant software using Rust, Go, and Python.
- Uphold sound engineering principles through architecture, development, and code reviews.
- Coordinate with product management on Ubuntu's vision and strategy.
- Mentor and provide technical feedback to team members.
- Contribute to community and upstream open source projects.
Qualifications:
- Strong academic track record with a degree in Computer Science or a related field (or a compelling alternative).
- Demonstrable experience in Rust, Go, Python, Flutter, or C/C++.
- Excellent written and spoken English, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to drive and deliver technical work beyond expectations.
- Passion for open source software.
- Ability to coach and mentor others.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in contributing to or leading open source projects.
- Familiarity with Linux distributions and software packaging.
- Experience in performance or security engineering.
