You will undertake tasks such as producing security assessments, conducting code reviews, and engaging with the open source community. The role requires an engineering-focused mindset and the ability to work effectively within a globally distributed team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze, fix, and test vulnerabilities in open source packages.
- Monitor vulnerabilities in the Ubuntu ecosystem, leveraging internal tools.
- Collaborate with community teams and upstream developers to ensure robust security features.
- Audit source code for vulnerabilities and build tools to enhance product security.
Requirements:
- Thorough understanding of common security vulnerabilities and fixing techniques.
- Familiarity with coordinated disclosure practices and open source development tools.
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages: C, Python, Go, Rust, Java, Ruby, PHP, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Experience with Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred) is essential.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a diverse, multi-national environment.
- Self-motivated with a personal drive to meet commitments.
