As an Ubuntu Software Engineer, you will work across diverse teams—such as Foundations, Server, Desktop, and Debcrafters—contributing to various development categories including system software design, open-source integration, software packaging, automation, and Linux distribution maintenance.

Work Conditions:

  • Type: Full-time, Remote
  • Opportunity to travel twice a year for team events (up to two weeks each time).
  • Flexible working hours to accommodate global teams.

Language Requirements:

  • Professional written and spoken English is required.

Qualifications:

  • An exceptional academic track record with an undergraduate degree in Computer Science or a related STEM field, or a compelling alternative path.
  • Demonstrated passion for open source software.
  • Significant experience with programming languages such as Rust, Go, Python, Flutter, or C/C++.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with Linux distributions and distribution engineering.
  • Familiarity with software packaging and distribution mechanisms.
  • Understanding of build systems and toolchains.
  • Background in Performance or Security Engineering.
