We are hiring a UX Designer for our Design System Team. You will be instrumental in making open-source software accessible to everyone by ensuring our software experience aligns with our design intentions while providing necessary tools for our community and customers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building and evolving Canonical's design system to ensure measurable adoption, consistency, scalability, and accessibility across our products.
- Collaborating with designers, engineers, and stakeholders to translate user needs and brand principles into reusable components and guidelines.
- Advocating for best practices in design systems, cohesive user experiences, and providing documentation and support for cross-functional teams.
- Designing and documenting UI components and interaction patterns.
- Promoting accessibility, performance, and scalability in design decisions, iterating based on data and advancements.
- Staying ahead of industry trends to ensure innovation while maintaining system coherence and performance.
What We Are Looking For:
- Relevant experience in UX/product design, with a strong focus on design systems in complex environments.
- A portfolio showcasing expertise in design systems, including component libraries and documentation.
- Exceptional educational qualifications in design or related behavioral science disciplines.
- Proficiency in Figma, Storybook, and design token workflows.
- Experience in collaborating with engineers to bridge design and code.
- Proven ability to communicate and document design decisions effectively.
- Excellent attention to detail and a systemic approach to solving complex design challenges.
- Commitment to timely project delivery and accountability for team deadlines.
- A passion for balancing consistency and innovation.
- Willingness to travel up to four times a year for internal events.
