About the Role
The primary purpose of this role is to ensure and maintain a sound loan portfolio, thereby minimizing loan losses and maximizing returns on assets and shareholders' equity. Responsibilities include recommending sound credit facilities after thorough evaluations of borrowers' creditworthiness and debt payment capacity, as well as developing and spreading a credit culture within the branch through training, counseling, and advising staff. Additionally, this role involves reviewing credit policies and procedures on a periodic basis to recommend and implement changes as appropriate. Support to Branch Managers and Team Leaders is also a vital aspect of this position, particularly in structuring credit lines that meet client business needs within acceptable risk criteria.

Key Result Areas
- Quality of loan portfolio, as measured by the percentage of classified outstandings and hence, loan loss provisions, directly impacting Branch profitability.
- Volume of assigned portfolio.
- Minimize migration across risk grades.
- Early detection of warning signals to ensure timely corrective action.
- Maintain targeted turnaround time.
- Volume of credit proposals processed.
- Minimize percentage of proposals returned/rejected by Head Office, reflecting the quality of the proposals.
- Accompany Relationship Managers/Team Leaders on calls where necessary to maintain awareness of market and business conditions.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- University graduate; an MBA or equivalent is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 to 15 years of lending experience, with 4 to 6 years at a managerial level.
- High degree of lending skills including credit, analytical, and judgment across various industries/lines of business (Trade, Contracting, Industry).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
