VMware Engineer

About the Job:
The VMware Engineer is a key element within the Rackspace support infrastructure and is expected to provide a high level of technical support to our customers. This role involves owning complex customer issues, which may take several days or weeks to resolve while keeping customers updated throughout the process.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting VMware virtualization solutions based on business requirements.
• Deploying, configuring, and maintaining VMware Cloud Platform and vSphere infrastructure.
• Developing SDN networks in NSX-T with integration into physical Cisco ACI networks.
• Developing and supporting load balancing as a service through NSX-ALB integrated with vCenter and VMware Cloud Director.
• Monitoring system performance and optimizing configurations for maximum efficiency.
• Implementing and managing backup and recovery solutions for virtualized environments.
• Creating and maintaining disaster recovery plans for VMware infrastructure.
• Collaborating with other IT teams to integrate VMware solutions with existing systems.

Required Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Proven experience working with VMware technologies, including NSX-T, vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, vSAN, and VMware Cloud Director.
• Strong understanding of virtualization concepts, architecture, and best practices.
• Experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation and management tasks.
• Familiarity with network security practices, firewalls, and access control lists (ACLs) within VMware environments.
