The VMware Engineer is a vital part of the support infrastructure, tasked with delivering high-level technical support to customers. This role involves managing complex customer issues that may require several days or weeks to resolve while maintaining regular communication with customers. The engineer is responsible for the engineering, design, and development of hardware, software, and networking systems, ensuring adherence to OS support standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting VMware virtualization solutions based on business needs.
  • Deploying, configuring, and maintaining VMware Cloud Platform and vSphere infrastructure.
  • Developing SDN networks in NSX-T and integrating them with physical Cisco ACI networks.
  • Implementing load balancing as a service via NSX-ALB integrated with vCenter and VMware Cloud Director.
  • Monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and optimizing configurations for efficiency.
  • Managing access controls and security configurations within VMware environments.
  • Creating and maintaining disaster recovery plans for VMware infrastructure and associated technical documentation.
  • Collaborating with IT teams to integrate VMware solutions with existing systems.

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience with VMware technologies, including NSX-T, vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, vSAN, and VMware Cloud Director.
  • Experience managing large-scale private cloud environments or working in a cloud service provider is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of virtualization concepts, architecture, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving skills, and familiarity with networking and storage technologies related to virtualization.

Certifications:
Certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP-DCV), VMware Specialist - Cloud Provider, or VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) are preferred.
