The Role
As the VP of Engineering, you will lead software engineering efforts to develop industry-leading AI software using cutting-edge research breakthroughs. You will provide leadership to a group of software and machine learning engineers in an innovative and fast-paced environment, with both horizontal (platform) and vertical (project, product development) responsibilities. You will own and drive complex technical projects from concept/planning through execution and release in close collaboration with various functions, including Product Management and Technical Program Management. This role requires technical expertise and the ability to guide a large team of engineers while contributing to product strategy and developing team capabilities.
Job Responsibilities

Technical Abilities:
- Design, implement, test, debug, deploy, and maintain full-stack features.
- Set team vision, technical direction, architectural approach, and hold accountability for successful complex projects.
- Drive technical roadmap and execution to scale and launch new large language models (LLMs).
- Scope problems and recommend solutions that meet both short and long-term needs.

Organizational Leadership and Team Management:
- Build a strong engineering team and foster a culture of excellence.
- Collaborate across functions to establish a shared technology and product vision.
- Define feature sets, API interfaces, and technical requirements for new models and features.

Strategy & Execution:
- Collaborate with developers to gather requirements and review high-level architecture.
- Participate in the full lifecycle of new modules/features, shaping product strategy and coaching software engineers.
- Execute strategies and roadmaps to deliver high-impact solutions and make informed decisions on large initiatives.
About You
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master's or Ph.D. preferred).
- 7+ years of professional machine learning software engineering experience.
- Proven ability to lead software engineering teams to build complex, customer-facing systems.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Experience:
- Expertise in machine learning/AI engineering, especially with large language models and finetuning techniques.
- Experience in fast-paced, early-stage technical innovation environments.
- Skills in recruiting and developing technical talent and fostering team cohesion.
- Experience building and operating SaaS or PaaS offerings on public cloud infrastructure.
