About the Role
The VTC Technician is responsible for conducting video teleconferencing (VTC) conferences and operating various VTC equipment, including conferencing equipment, consoles, Digital Video Recorders (DVDs), cameras, microphones, as well as desktop and laptop computers supporting VTC events. The position reports to the Site Manager as required and is part of the OMDAC-SWACA program.

Responsibilities
- Coordinates with customers to ensure equipment is operational.
- Sets up and operates VTC equipment.
- Establishes end-to-end secure and non-secure connectivity to support conferences.
- Establishes proper cable connections and routing to various Audio/Video and communication links.
- Adjusts sound and light levels for optimum performance of equipment and comfort of customers.
- Troubleshoots VTC and connectivity problems with local and distant end technical control facilities and Service Desk to restore communication and resolve poor reception or transmission issues.
- Configures modems and data timing and transfer rates while troubleshooting equipment.
- Resolves connectivity problems with technical personnel.
- Performs weekly maintenance on all associated VTC equipment.
- Operates, administers, and maintains the VTC Bridge, providing technical support for all VTC circuits attached.
- Performs other duties and assignments as assigned.
Qualifications
- Security Clearance:
- Requires an active Secret Clearance
- Education/Certifications:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Experience:
- Requires a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Video Teleconferencing or Audio Video Productions.
- One year of related academic study above the high school level may substitute for one year of experience, up to a maximum of a four-year bachelor's degree for three years of general experience.
- Must be able to work rotating shift schedules that provide 24-hour day, 7-day week coverage.
- Experience with a customer service-oriented company.
- Skills & Technology Used:
- Proficiency in using a computer (desktop or laptop).
- Proficiency in using Microsoft productivity software.
- Proficiency in using email client software.
- Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting Codecs and Crestrons.
Working Environment
- The work environment will be 95% indoors and 5% outdoors, with outdoor environments potentially exceeding 100 degrees F. Candidates must be able to physically withstand extreme heat.
Physical Activities
- Must be capable of lifting, pushing, and pulling items weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Must be capable of wearing Personal Protective Equipment (helmet and plated vest) weighing between 25 to 40 lbs for extended periods.
