Welfare Officer

About the Role
This role is focused on ensuring that welfare activities for employees are effectively managed and implemented. The position includes handling employee complaints, counseling, and grievance management, while identifying and addressing any issues or concerns that require escalation to management. Regular visits to employee accommodations are necessary to conduct welfare activities and to engage with employees. The individual will also support operations in managing disciplinary cases and late leave returns, provide trainings, and ensure assistance for employees undergoing medical treatment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure welfare activities for employees are effectively managed and implemented.
• Handle employee complaints, counseling, and grievances.
• Identify and address concerns, root causes, and escalate matters to management as needed.
• Conduct regular visits to all employee accommodations and camps for welfare-related activities.
• Manage resignation cases to explore reasons and the possibility of retaining employees.
• Support the operations team in handling late leave return cases and disciplinary issues.
• Initiate disciplinary actions, including recommending warnings, suspensions, or terminations.
• Maintain welfare-related Management Information Systems (MIS), reports, and updates.
• Deliver employee welfare-related training sessions.
• Ensure necessary assistance and care is provided to employees who have undergone medical treatment and coordinate with relevant medical services.
• Engage idle employees through various activities, including training opportunities.
• Organize induction for new arrivals within 48 hours of arrival and maintain a log of observations.
• Communicate observations to the recruitment team and other support departments.
• Maintain attendance records and track reasons for separation for new employees.
• Prepare and manage a monthly visit schedule and arrange follow-ups with new arrivals.
• Coordinate with accommodations and timekeepers to engage with employees.
• Meet with absentees to understand their situation and encourage their return to work.
• Prepare follow-up programs based on needs analysis and generate weekly and monthly reports analyzing welfare activities.
• Log day-to-day activities on the welfare share point.
• Counsel employees who have resigned to consider withdrawing their resignation.
• Follow up on medical cases for early repatriation.
• Identify talents for inclusion in the internal talent pool.
• Organize at least one employee engagement program per month.

Qualifications

• Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Master's in Social Work (MSW) or Master's in Sociology (MA Sociology).
  • Prior experience in employee welfare is preferable.
  • Experience in training multicultural groups.

• Job-specific Skills and Requirements:

  • Language Proficiency (mandatory): English (Read, Write, Speak); knowledge of Hindi and other local languages is a plus.
  • IT Proficiency: MS Office (Word, Excel).
  • Valid UAE driving license.
