About the Job
Join the Automation Team at B&R, a member of the ABB Group, and take the next step in your career. In this role, you will contribute to transforming society and industry into a more productive and sustainable future. We promote diversity and inclusion in all aspects, embracing individual differences.

As a Senior System Architect, you will design and develop a coherent software and system ecosystem, which includes an integrated development environment (IDE), a runtime environment for industrial real-time devices, and a digital platform. You will collaborate closely with product teams (hardware and software) to ensure seamless integration of all components, enhancing user experience and system performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Define and enforce best practices in software architecture, design, firmware development, and system architecture to meet non-functional requirements, such as performance, security, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Apply scalable agile methods to facilitate collaborative and efficient team work environments, ensuring timely delivery of integrated solutions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across various areas to gather and validate requirements, ensuring that the software ecosystem meets diverse needs.
  • Lead technological decision-making processes for individual products and the overall product portfolio, aligning them with broader business goals and technology standards.
  • Stay updated on new technologies and methodologies that could benefit the ecosystem, driving continuous innovation and improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • 15-20 years of experience in software architecture, system design, and embedded software development, with a comprehensive understanding of IDEs, runtime environments, and digital platforms.
  • Proven track record of integrating complex software products into coherent ecosystems with a focus on usability and performance optimization.
  • Strong background in industrial automation, mechanical engineering, or manufacturing, with practical technical experience in developing system/software architectures for modern automation solutions.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to tackle complex technical challenges and make informed decisions.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences and engage stakeholders in a matrix organization.
  • Familiarity with modern software development tools, languages, and frameworks, alongside a willingness to stay informed about industry trends and innovations.
  • Proficient writing and presentation skills in English; proficiency in German is a plus.

Benefits:
At B&R, you can expect a challenging role with a tailored onboarding process. You will work in agile teams, and have the opportunity to actively contribute and advance your ideas. Our flexible working model offers options for time compensation and remote work, which promotes a healthy work-life balance. We pride ourselves on a culture of appreciation, open communication, and a family-like work environment.

Further, you will have access to custom training and development programs, along with various additional benefits (employee cafeteria, meal subsidies, free hot beverages, sabbaticals, parental leave programs, employee support programs, and multiple sports offerings).

We look forward to receiving your application!
