About
The AOP team within Amazon Transportation is looking for an innovative, hands-on, and customer-obsessed Business Intelligence Engineer for its Analytics team. The ideal candidate must be detail-oriented, possess superior verbal and written communication skills, exhibit strong organizational skills, and demonstrate excellent technical abilities while managing multiple tasks simultaneously. This role involves identifying potential issues before they arise and implementing solutions that prevent outages. The candidate must prioritize projects effectively, make sound judgments, improve customer experience, and ensure timely execution of tasks.

Primary responsibilities include defining problems and building analytical frameworks to streamline processes, identifying gaps through data analysis, and working with relevant teams to address these gaps. Additionally, the job entails analyzing data and metrics and providing updates to internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply multi-domain/process expertise in daily activities and take ownership of the end-to-end roadmap.
  • Translate complex or ambiguous business problem statements into analysis requirements and maintain a high standard throughout execution.
  • Define analytical approaches and collaborate with stakeholders to review and vet these approaches.
  • Proactively work with stakeholders to construct use cases and standardized outputs.
  • Scale data processes and reports, enabling clients to update queries independently; lead discussions with data engineering for full-scale automation.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of data needed for more complex or comparative analysis.
  • Work with various data sources and pull data using efficient query development to minimize post-processing.
  • Triangulate on data fidelity by pulling data from multiple similar sources when necessary.
  • Actively manage project timelines and deliverables, focusing on team interactions.
  • Provide program communications to stakeholders and address potential roadblocks with proposed solutions.
  • Represent the team on medium-sized analytical projects within the organization and effectively communicate across teams.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL, etc.
  • Proficiency in data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools.
  • Experience in data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis packages such as R, SAS, and Matlab.
  • SQL experience for data extraction from databases or data warehouses and scripting experience in Python for data processing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift.
  • Background in data mining, ETL, and working with databases in large-scale, complex business environments.
