About the job:
The Cloud Platform architect role is responsible for designing, developing and implementing cloud-based platform architectures for the organization. The role will work closely with stakeholders, including IT teams, business leaders, and external vendors, to understand business requirements and design scalable and secure cloud platforms, while ensuring the security and compliance of cloud platforms by collaborating with the info sec team. The role will provide guidance to product development teams, ensuring adherence to cloud architecture principles and best practices
Responsibilities:

Cloud Infrastructure Development:
Design the blueprint for the cloud infrastructure, including virtual networks, storage, compute resources, and security configurations. Oversee the configuration of cloud services, such as virtual machines, containers, serverless functions, and databases in keeping with the architectural blueprint and ensure implementation of automation and orchestration tools to streamline cloud infrastructure provisioning and management processes to align with the objectives of the architecture.

Technical Vision and Strategy:
Develop and communicate the technical vision and strategy for the cloud platform. Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to drive platform innovation and continuous improvement.

Technical Leadership:
Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams, ensuring adherence to cloud architecture principles and best practices. Mentor and coach team members on cloud technologies, design patterns, and implementation approaches. Develop and maintain cloud architecture documentation and guidelines for best practices.

Cloud Security and Compliance:
Ensure the security and compliance of cloud platforms by collaborating with the info sec team to design appropriate security controls, encryption, access management, and monitoring as part of the architectural blueprint. Support and input to regular security assessments and audits of cloud platforms to assess alignment with the design. Stay updated on cloud security best practices and emerging threats to proactively address security risks.

Cloud Cost Optimization:
Optimize cloud costs by factoring in cost management strategies, such as rightsizing resources, leveraging reserved instances and implementing cost allocation tags, in the design of the architectural blueprint. Monitor and analyze cloud usage and spending to identify opportunities for cost savings and optimization through the architectural design. Provide recommendations to stakeholders on cost-effective cloud solutions and resource utilization.

Cloud Governance and Best Practices:
Input to cloud platform governance policies, standards, and best practices to ensure consistency, security, and compliance across cloud platforms. Provide guidance and support to development teams and stakeholders on cloud architecture and best practices. Stay updated on cloud industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive continuous improvement in cloud platforms.
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in cloud computing or architecture are highly desirable.
At least 8 years of experience in cloud architecture, cloud platform design, or a related role with 2 to 3 years in a leadership position with experience in infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools, such as Terraform or CloudFormation, for provisioning and managing cloud resources.
