Position

Canonical, a leading provider of open source software and operating systems, is seeking an Associate Support Engineer to support the technical needs of customers leveraging Ubuntu and open source products. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer with a passion for Linux and open source technologies. You will address various technical challenges, including complex cloud environments and OS configuration issues, while ensuring an outstanding technical support experience across cloud, desktop, and IoT.

Location: Remote - Dubai, Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Work Conditions:

  • Fully remote position.
  • Work from your home office.
  • Participate in a regular weekend working rotation.
  • Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support via phone, email, and web.
  • Manage customer cases to ensure timely updates and resolutions.
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing through documentation and technical notices.
  • Prioritize tasks effectively to meet customer and organizational expectations.
  • Collaborate with team members locally and remotely.

Requirements:

  • Exceptional academic record with an undergraduate degree in a technical subject or equivalent experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting Linux environments.
  • Basic experience in Linux server administration, programming fundamentals in languages like bash, Perl, Ruby, Javascript, C/C++, Go, networking, or virtualization/cloud concepts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
  • A personal drive to meet commitments and deliver outstanding results.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in supporting virtualized environments and contributing to open-source projects.
