Position

Canonical is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems used globally in enterprise initiatives such as public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation, and IoT. We are seeking an Associate Support Engineer to build a career with us, supporting customers leveraging Ubuntu and our open source products. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer eager to learn and passionate about Linux and open source technologies. In this position, you will face diverse technical challenges such as triaging complex cloud environments, resolving desktop and server issues, and conducting root cause analysis for Linux kernel crashes. Your main responsibility will be to deliver an exceptional technical support experience across the full technical stack at Canonical, ensuring each case you manage meets our Service Level Agreement (SLA) with the utmost customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support for employees from your remote home office.
  • Take ownership of new cases via telephone, email, and web.
  • Keep internal customers informed in a timely manner.
  • Contribute to our knowledge base, ensuring shared knowledge is available.
  • Participate in a regular weekend working rotation.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Exceptional academic record from high school and university with an undergraduate degree in a technical field. Relevant majors include Computer Science, MIS, Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience with Linux troubleshooting, and hands-on experience with Linux server administration.
  • Programming fundamentals in one or more languages such as Bash, Perl, Ruby, Javascript, C, C++, or Go.
  • Basic understanding of networking, virtualization, and cloud computing concepts.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a multicultural and multinational organization.

Additional Information:

  • Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events.
