About the Job:
This is an opportunity to lead a field engineering team at Canonical, assisting customers in understanding and implementing open source solutions across public clouds and their own data centers. You will be involved in various cloud offerings, including Ubuntu, virtualization, private cloud, Kubernetes, and sophisticated open source solutions like MLops platforms and data platforms. The role entails shaping the team’s direction, focus, and delivery while also providing hands-on technical support and advice during presales.
You will oversee the Field Engineering team, acting as cloud solutions architects who work directly with customers. The portfolio includes on-premise solutions and deployable solutions for public clouds. You will be responsible for line management, career guidance, and fostering collaboration across teams while participating in presales activities.
Work Conditions:
- This role is home-based, managing a team within your time zone.
- Willingness to travel up to 40% of the time for internal and external events and customer meetings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a team of Field Engineers varying from graduate to senior levels.
- Solve customer problems and serve as a trusted advisor by promoting Canonical’s technologies.
- Coach, mentor, and provide career development feedback to team members.
- Represent the team and its products to stakeholders, partners, and customers.
- Plan and manage progress on projects and goals.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of cloud computing concepts and technologies (Kubernetes, OpenStack, AWS, GCP, Azure, Ceph, etc.).
- Practical knowledge of Linux and networking.
- Experience in technical presales.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Passion for developing and growing team members.
- Organised with a track record of delivering high-quality results.
- Preferred: Second language (Spanish or French), Python knowledge.
