Position

This is an opportunity to lead a Professional Services team (Field Engineering) at Canonical, assisting customers in understanding and implementing Canonical's open-source solutions in public clouds and their own data centers. The role spans the entire range of cloud offerings, including Ubuntu, virtualization, private cloud, Kubernetes, and advanced open-source solutions like MLops and data platforms. The team is expanding into new industries such as telecommunications, finance, healthcare, and media, creating tailored open-source solutions to meet specific needs.

As a Cloud Professional Services Manager, you will be responsible for line management and career development of engineers. Your success will hinge on developing engineering talent, representing your team technically, and fostering collaboration across teams and with customers. You will also take part in presales conversations, providing technical advice during the sales process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a team of engineers, from graduate to senior levels.
  • Work remotely within a major time zone.
  • Coach, mentor, and provide career development feedback.
  • Measure team health indicators and implement disciplined engineering processes.
  • Represent your team and product to stakeholders, partners, and customers.
  • Develop and advocate for excellent engineering and organizational practices.
  • Plan and manage progress on agreed goals and projects.
  • Collaborate as part of the leadership team with other leaders.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of cloud computing concepts and technologies (Kubernetes, Openstack, AWS, GCP, Azure, Ceph).
  • Practical experience in Linux and networking.
  • Experience in technical presales.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Passion for developing and growing engineering talent.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills.
  • Organized with a focus on delivering high-quality results.
  • Willingness to travel up to 40% of the time for internal and external events.

Additional Skills (Preferred):

  • Proficiency in a second language (Spanish or French).
  • Knowledge of Python.
  • Experience working with external partners and internal teams.
