This role presents an opportunity to lead a Professional Services team (Field Engineering) at Canonical, assisting customers in understanding and implementing Canonical's open-source solutions within public clouds and their own data centers. The position encompasses a wide range of cloud offerings, including Ubuntu, virtualization, private cloud, Kubernetes, and advanced open-source solutions like MLops platforms and data platforms. As Canonical expands into new industries such as telecommunications, finance, healthcare, and media, the need for innovative open-source solutions is growing.

The role includes hands-on project delivery as well as significant contributions to shaping the team’s direction and success.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a team of engineers of varying experience levels, from graduate to senior.
- Collaborate with teams in your time zone while working remotely.
- Coach, mentor, and provide career development feedback to team members.
- Identify and monitor team health indicators.
- Implement disciplined engineering processes.
- Represent the team and product to stakeholders, partners, and clients.
- Promote effective engineering and organizational practices.
- Plan and manage progress on agreed goals and projects.
- Participate actively as part of the leadership team.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of cloud computing concepts and technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, OpenStack, AWS, GCP, Azure, Ceph).
- Practical knowledge of Linux and networking.
- Experience in technical presales.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- A passion for developing and growing team members.
- A proven track record of leading, coaching, and mentoring engineers.
- Organizational skills to ensure timely delivery of high-quality results.
- Willingness to travel up to 40% for internal events, external tech events, and customer meetings.
- Preferred second language: Spanish or French.
- Knowledge of Python and experience with external partners or internal team collaborations are a plus.
