This is an opportunity to run a Professional Services team (also known as Field Engineering), helping customers understand and implement Canonical's open-source solutions in public clouds and their own data centers. The team works across a wide range of cloud offerings including Ubuntu, virtualization, private cloud, Kubernetes, and sophisticated open-source solutions such as MLOps platforms and data platforms.
The role involves managing a team of cloud solutions architects who design private and public cloud solutions tailored to customer workload needs. The position requires hands-on work with technologies to deploy, test, and transition solutions to managed services. The Cloud Professional Services Manager must also participate in technical presales to assist in achieving quarterly goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a team of engineers from graduate to senior levels.
- Coach, mentor, and provide career development feedback.
- Implement disciplined engineering processes and measure team health indicators.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, partners, and customers.
- Develop and promote effective engineering and organizational practices.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of cloud computing concepts & technologies such as Kubernetes, Openstack, AWS, GCP, Azure, and Ceph.
- Practical knowledge of Linux and networking.
- Experience in technical presales is essential.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to lead, coach, and mentor engineers effectively.
- Willingness to travel up to 40% for company events and customer meetings.
Preferred Skills:
- A second language such as Spanish or French.
- Knowledge of Python.
- Experience in collaborating with external partners and internal teams.
