Canonical operates with a distributed team of over 1000 colleagues across more than 70 countries, with minimal office-based roles. The company is founder-led, profitable, and continually expanding.

We are looking to hire a Cloud Solutions Architect in our Alliances team. This role is crucial for assisting our prominent partners—companies like Intel, Nvidia, Google, Dell, HP, Accenture, and Tata—in understanding and embracing our open-source platform for their needs and the needs of their customers.

As part of the worldwide field engineering team, you will provide expert insights into real-world customer problems, enabling the enterprise adoption of Ubuntu, OpenStack, Kubernetes, AI/MLOps, and various related technologies. This team is also focused on understanding business issues—building solutions that are reliable, efficient, and cost-effective.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Understanding Ubuntu, Linux, networking, and services in real-world environments.
  • Architecting cloud infrastructure solutions using technologies like Kubernetes, Kubeflow, OpenStack, Ceph, and Spark, both on-premises and in public cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Integrating popular open-source software such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Kafka, Cassandra, and NGINX.
  • Aiding partners in architecting joint solutions using Canonical's technologies.
  • Designing and publishing joint Reference Architectures and validating them with various partners.
  • Running onboarding sessions and workshops to promote Canonical's products and solutions.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience with Linux (preferably Ubuntu), Kubernetes, and Ceph.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing solutions in public or private cloud environments.
  • Proficiency in Python and bash troubleshooting skills.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • High motivation, ability to multi-task, and a reliable follow-up on commitments.
  • Interest in customer-facing engagements, including pitching and understanding customer needs.
  • Passion for open-source technologies, cloud-native development, and data center technologies.
  • Ability to travel globally up to 30% of the time.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive compensation based on geographical location, experience, and performance.
  • Performance-driven annual bonus and regular compensation reviews.
  • A personal learning and development budget of USD 2,000 per year.
  • Annual holiday leave and maternity/paternity leave.
  • Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Opportunity for global travel to meet colleagues.
  • Priority Pass for travel and travel upgrades for long-haul company events.
