About the Job:
Canonical is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems, well-known for our platform, Ubuntu, which is widely used in significant enterprise initiatives including public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation, and IoT. Our esteemed customers include major public cloud and silicon providers, along with industry leaders across various sectors.
As a Cloud Solutions Architect in our Alliances team, you will assist our largest partners—such as Intel, Nvidia, Google, Dell, HP, Accenture, and Tata—in comprehending and adopting our open source platform for their own operations and for their customers. Our field engineering team applies expert insights to real-world customer problems, facilitating enterprise adoption of Ubuntu, OpenStack, Kubernetes, AI/MLOps, and a diverse range of related technologies.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Understanding Ubuntu, Linux, networking, and services in real-world environments.
  • Architecting cloud infrastructure solutions like Kubernetes, Kubeflow, OpenStack, Ceph, and Spark in both on-premises and public cloud settings (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Integrating popular open source software such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Kafka, Cassandra, and NGINX.
  • Collaborating with partners to develop and architect joint solutions that utilize Canonical's technologies.
  • Designing and publishing joint Reference Architectures and performing technical validations.
  • Leading onboarding sessions/workshops with partner teams to promote Canonical products.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Extensive experience with Linux (preferably Ubuntu), Kubernetes, Ceph, and software automation.
  • Proficiency in designing and implementing solutions on public or private clouds.
  • Understanding of Python and bash, with debugging skills.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • High motivation and ability to multi-task.
  • Willingness to engage with customers by pitching, demonstrating, and understanding their needs.
  • Interest in new technologies like LXD, Juju, and Snaps.
  • Ability to travel globally up to 30% of the time.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive compensation based on geographical location, experience, and performance, with annual reviews and performance-driven bonuses.
  • A personal learning and development budget of $2,000 per year.
  • Additional benefits including annual holiday leave, maternity and paternity leave, and an Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Opportunities to travel internationally for team meetings and events.

Canonical is proud to be an equal-opportunity employer, fostering a diverse workplace free from discrimination. We are committed to giving fair consideration to all applications, regardless of identity.
