About the Job:
Canonical is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems, best known for our platform, Ubuntu. We are seeking a Community Engineer to support community initiatives within the Ubuntu Community team. This role involves facilitating collaboration among community leaders and participants to enhance processes related to community projects.

In this role, you will leverage your technical and organizational skills, engaging with developers, addressing their concerns, and helping them to craft successful tools. You will ensure that communication remains continuous and informative through regular blog posts, social media updates, and participation in conferences and expos.

This position is ideal for someone passionate about open source software, Linux, and community building, with experience in DevOps, Software Development, Testing, or QA, as well as strong skills with Linux.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with a distributed team.
  • Write content to support community initiatives.
  • Engage with the Ubuntu community through various platforms (AskUbuntu, IRC, social media, conferences).
  • Represent Ubuntu at events and conferences.

Qualifications:

  • Passion for technology and collaboration.
  • Experience with developer tools and open source projects.
  • Strong public record of contributions (talks, blog posts, GitHub, Twitter).
  • Flexible and autonomous worker.

Language Requirements: Proficiency in English is required; additional language skills are a plus.
