Position

Canonical is a leading provider of open source software, primarily through its widely used platform, Ubuntu. We are seeking an Embedded Linux Field Engineer for Devices/IoT to enhance our efforts in mission-critical industries like Automotive, Medical Devices, Industrial Systems, Robotics, Telco, and Consumer Electronics. This position is based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and is full-time remote with a willingness to travel up to 30% for customer meetings, company events, and conferences.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Linux and be proficient in containerization, system debugging, and related areas. You will engage with clients in presales to gather requirements, elaborate solutions, and support project delivery related to Embedded Linux. Your role will also involve advocating for customers and providing well-informed insights on our products and technology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage customers during presales to gather requirements and explain our technology.
  • Elaborate solutions proposed to prospective clients.
  • Participate in the delivery of select projects related to Embedded Linux.
  • Convey market requirements to key stakeholders and participate in refining generic solutions.
  • Act as both a customer advocate and a trusted advisor.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Extensive Linux experience; Debian or Ubuntu preferred.
  • Solid embedded Linux experience (Yocto, Buildroot, or RTOS).
  • Fluency in at least one of Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust.
  • Excellent written and spoken English; proficiency in the local language for positions in Japan and Korea required.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Result-oriented with the ability to multitask and a personal drive to meet commitments.
  • Willingness to travel.

Additional Skills:

  • Experience with customer engagements is a plus but not a requirement.
