Canonical is a leading provider of open-source software and operating systems, known for our platform, Ubuntu. We are hiring an Embedded Linux Field Engineer for Devices/IoT to enhance our presence in mission-critical industries such as Automotive, Medical Devices, Industrial Systems, Robotics, and Telco, as well as Consumer Electronics. We seek accomplished Linux specialists passionate about system debug, containerization, and embedded Linux.
The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of Linux, low-level Linux boot, BIOS, firmware, and embedded software development methodologies. This role balances technical expertise with customer engagement, providing solutions and support in diverse client settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage customers during presales to gather requirements and explain our technology.
- Develop solutions for prospective clients.
- Deliver selected projects related to Embedded Linux.
- Serve as a customer advocate and a trusted advisor to Canonical.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Extensive experience with Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred).
- Solid experience in embedded Linux (Yocto, Buildroot, or RTOS).
- Proficiency in at least one of the following languages: Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust.
- Professional written and spoken English, with proficiency in the local language where relevant.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Result-oriented, multi-tasking ability, personal drive, and a commitment to learning.
- Willingness to travel up to 30% for customer meetings and events.
Additional Skills (Optional):
- Experience with customer engagements.

- This is a full-time remote position.
