Position

As an Engineering Manager at Canonical, your primary responsibility will be to lead and develop a high-performing team while also ensuring effective team dynamics and productivity. You will manage code reviews and provide architectural leadership, all while focusing on fostering professional growth for your team members. Your role will involve collaborating closely with other Engineering Managers, product managers, and architects to create an ambitious engineering roadmap.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing a distributed team of engineers and overseeing the MLOps/Analytics portfolio.
  • Organizing and leading team processes to achieve objectives.
  • Conducting one-on-one meetings with team members and identifying team health indicators.
  • Interacting with a vibrant community and attending conferences to represent Canonical's MLOps solutions.
  • Mentoring direct reports and assisting them in achieving professional goals.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in software delivery and professional Python development, ideally with open-source projects.
  • Understanding of machine learning concepts, including the design and implementation of MLOps solutions.
  • A solid academic background, with evidence of high achievement.

Preferred Skills:

  • Hands-on experience with machine learning libraries or tools.
  • Experience in building automated machine learning solutions for the cloud.
  • Familiarity with container technologies like Docker, LXD, Kubernetes, and public cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • A passion for software quality and testing.

Language Requirements: Candidates should be fluent in English.
