About the Job:
This is an Engineering Manager role focused on a new generation of ops technology, leading a team that works in Python on Kubernetes. Our mission is to reinvent how software is run—on public clouds and in data centres. We are building a community around Python opscode for open source applications running on Kubernetes, aiming to transition all of Canonical and Ubuntu IS onto this new codebase.
As a technical leader, you will be passionate about establishing a world-class devops culture in corporate information systems. This role presents an opportunity to dramatically enhance the experience of managing complex business operations, enabling customers to adopt cutting-edge techniques and products. Our goal is to transform our IS team into an extension of Canonical's product engineering capabilities.
You will lead a local team supporting the business workloads that ensure high availability of Ubuntu, Canonical, and associated services globally. Responsibilities include ensuring sound software architecture, best practices in software quality, testing, and documentation.

Who You Are:
- Experience in Docker and Kubernetes operations.
- Strong software engineering background with proven Python expertise.
- Experience in developing Python frameworks and awareness of stable consumable APIs.
- Passionate about new technologies and improving software operational practices.
- Skilled in developing and mentoring engineers.
- Knowledgeable about software development, especially in an agile environment.
Language Requirements:
Fluency in English is required, and knowledge of additional languages may be beneficial due to the global nature of the operations.
