We are hiring a Web Engineering Manager to work collaboratively across various teams—including product managers and engineering teams—to deliver reliable and scalable user experiences for Canonical products. The primary responsibility of the Engineering Manager is to support the development and growth of their team members, ensuring a fulfilling work environment and valuable contributions.

Location: Jiddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia (Remote)
Work Conditions: Full-time; remote position with the possibility of travel twice a year for company events (up to two weeks each).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate sound engineering principles while contributing directly to team goals.
  • Estimate work, set objectives, and meet them consistently.
  • Design and implement well-tested and documented software using Web technologies or Flutter.
  • Debug and resolve issues affecting users.
  • Participate in code and architectural reviews within the engineering process.
  • Collaborate on technical specifications and contribute to documentation.
  • Seek improvements in engineering and operations practices.
  • Deploy and operate services developed by the team.

Qualifications:

  • Passionate and knowledgeable about web and software development.
  • Excellent soft skills, demonstrating thoughtfulness and self-motivation.
  • Strong academic background in Computer Science or a related STEM field, or a compelling alternative path.
  • Proficiency in high-quality web technologies and experience with Typescript, React, or Flutter.
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Familiarity with Linux (preferably Debian or Ubuntu).
  • Ability to travel twice a year for company events.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience with container technologies such as LXD, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Background in REST API design and performance engineering.
