Position

As an Engineering Manager at Canonical, you will work collaboratively across the organization with product managers and other engineering teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and delightful user experiences for our products. Your primary responsibility will be to support and develop your team, ensuring they are growing as web engineers, doing valuable work, and enjoying their roles at Canonical.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate sound engineering principles and contribute directly to team goals.
  • Estimate work, set goals, and achieve them.
  • Design and implement well-tested and documented software in web technologies or Flutter.
  • Debug and resolve user issues.
  • Participate in engineering processes through code and architectural reviews.
  • Collaborate on technical specifications with community and colleagues.
  • Contribute to technical documentation.
  • Seek improvements to engineering and operational practices.
  • Deploy and operate services developed by the team.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledgeable and passionate about web and software development.
  • Exceptional academic track record in Computer Science or STEM.
  • Professional experience in designing and writing high-quality web technologies.
  • Proficiency in Typescript, React, or Flutter.
  • Strong written and spoken English skills.
  • Experience with Linux (preferably Debian or Ubuntu).
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to travel twice a year for company events (up to two weeks each).

Work Conditions:

  • This is a full-time remote role based in the EMEA region.
