Position

Canonical is seeking exceptional software engineers skilled in Go for various teams. This role is crucial as Golang is preferred for software where performance and security are paramount. The engineering teams utilize Golang across various projects, including systems that deliver Ubuntu worldwide and tools for software distribution and management. Candidates will engage in designing, implementing well-tested software, resolving user issues, and collaborating with colleagues on technical specifications.

Responsibilities include:

  • Designing and implementing well-tested and documented software in Go.
  • Debugging and fixing issues encountered by users.
  • Participating in engineering processes through code and architectural reviews.
  • Collaborating with the community and technical teams to enhance engineering practices.
  • Contributing to product success through technical advocacy.

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional academic track record in Computer Science or a related STEM field, or a compelling alternative background.
  • Self-motivated, well-organized with a professional demeanor.
  • Experience writing high-quality Golang software on Linux, particularly Debian or Ubuntu.
  • Extensive personal experience with Linux is essential.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to travel twice a year for company events (up to two weeks each).

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with Ubuntu Linux, Juju, LXD, Microk8s, Snapd, or Ubuntu Pro.
  • Performance engineering and security experience.
