Canonical is a leading provider of open-source software and operating systems, renowned for its Ubuntu platform, which is widely used across various sectors, including public cloud, data science, AI, and IoT. The company is a pioneer of global distributed collaboration with over 1,200 colleagues across more than 75 countries. Very few roles are office-based, with teams meeting in unique locations worldwide two to four times a year to align on strategy and execution.

The Talent Science team at Canonical focuses on implementing objective, scientifically rigorous, and efficient processes to select the best new colleagues globally. The team collaborates with key stakeholders to ensure effective hiring models and delivers talent acquisition excellence that supports the selection of world-class talent.

We are seeking exceptional individuals to join our team at the entry level. The ideal candidate will possess a psychology-based degree with an outstanding academic record. Relevant experience in talent selection through university coursework or internships is preferred. In this role, you will learn to implement hiring strategies to drive high-performance outcomes and contribute to the talent agenda.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess candidates using behavioral interview techniques.
  • Understand the role of psychometrics in the workplace.
  • Enhance process and documentation efficiencies to improve hiring practices.
  • Contribute to projects that require advanced analytics skills to gain insights from data.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders to address complex hiring challenges.
  • Support hiring-related inquiries and gain insight into our hiring systems.

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional academic record from both high school and university, particularly in psychology or people-based subjects.
  • Strong analytical skills to work with SQL, Python, and/or R.
  • Exposure to talent-related topics through coursework, internships, or job experience.
  • Passion for the technology industry.
  • Results-driven with effective project management skills.
  • Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation capabilities.
  • Ambitious, driven, and curious about innovations in talent acquisition.
  • Willingness to travel internationally twice a year for company events lasting up to two weeks.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Advanced understanding of psychometrics and intrinsic motivation.
  • Proficient in advanced statistical analysis.
