We are currently seeking an Information Systems Architect to establish best practices for infrastructure as code on a global scale. You will be responsible for defining, implementing, and advancing the architecture for IT operations at Canonical, impacting the user experience for millions by shaping the infrastructure behind tens of millions of devices running Ubuntu.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with cloud-ops software development teams to build a standardized and automated operation.
  • Advising IS management on technology choices and best practices for reliability and resilience.
  • Leading technical decisions to implement self-service solutions and ensure scalable operations.
  • Automating operations for reuse across large enterprises, considering the complexities of distributed systems.
  • Collaborating with development teams to design service architecture and operational procedures.
  • Analyzing incidents to determine root causes and implementing structural improvements.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Exceptional academic track record from both high school and university, with an undergraduate degree in a technical subject or an alternative compelling narrative.
  • Confidence to speak up, exchange feedback, and share ideas respectfully.
  • A proven track record of going above and beyond expectations.
  • Extensive knowledge of cloud computing concepts and operations.
  • Practical knowledge of Linux networking, routing, and firewalls.
  • Experience in managing significant production outages and responding to incidents.
  • Passion for writing, sharing, and maintaining enterprise open-source software solutions.
  • Familiarity and passion for open-source technologies, especially Ubuntu or Debian.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Modern software engineering background (e.g., peer-review, unit testing, CI/CD).
  • Hands-on experience with the automatic administration of enterprise Linux servers at scale.

What We Offer Colleagues:

  • Competitive global compensation that considers geographical location, experience, and performance.
  • Annual reviews and performance-driven bonuses.
  • Distributed work environment with in-person team sprints twice a year.
  • Personal learning and development budget of USD 2,000 per year.
  • Annual holiday leave, maternity and paternity leave, and an Employee Assistance Program.
  • Opportunities to travel to new locations for team events.
