About the Job:
Canonical is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems for the global enterprise and technology markets. Our platform, Ubuntu, is widely used in critical enterprise initiatives including public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation, and IoT. We serve many of the world's leading public cloud and silicon providers, as well as industry leaders across various sectors. With a founder-led, profitable, and growing company, we pride ourselves on global distributed collaboration, employing over 1200 colleagues in more than 75 countries.

We are seeking an MLOps Field Engineer to assist global companies in leveraging AI/ML in their operations, using cutting-edge open source technologies on both public and private cloud infrastructures, including Linux and Kubernetes. This role is focused on designing ML architectures for external customers, rather than software development. Ideal candidates are MLOps engineers who thrive on customer interactions and problem-solving during the presales cycle. You will work on complex challenges, such as training large language models on multiple Kubernetes clusters or processing vast amounts of real-time data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement private and public cloud solutions tailored to customer workload needs, using technologies like Kubernetes, Kubeflow, OpenStack, and Spark.
  • Collaborate with customers to identify business requirements and advise on the use of Ubuntu and open source applications.
  • Develop and deliver presentations and demonstrations of Ubuntu Pro and AI/ML capabilities to prospective and existing clients.
  • Provide hands-on support in deploying and testing technology solutions.
  • Collaborate with product teams to influence the roadmap based on customer feedback.
  • Travel globally up to 30% of the time for customer meetings and events.

Qualifications:

  • Strong academic background with an undergraduate degree in a technical field or relevant experience.
  • Experience in data engineering, MLOps, or deployment of big data solutions.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, R, or Rust.
  • Practical knowledge of Linux, virtualization, containers, and networking.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing concepts, particularly Kubernetes and major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Proficiency in professional written and spoken English, including strong presentation skills.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive compensation with annual reviews and performance bonuses.
  • Personal learning and development budget of $2,000 per year.
  • Distributed work environment with opportunities for in-person team events.
  • Additional benefits including holiday leave, maternity and paternity leave, and wellness programs.

Canonical's Commitment:
Canonical is dedicated to creating a diverse work environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We provide fair consideration to all applications, fostering a workplace free from discrimination.

Location: Jiddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia (Remote)
