About the Job:
This role offers an exciting opportunity for a technologist with a passion for Linux and Cloud technologies to advance their career with Canonical. The OpenStack Engineering Manager will work alongside a talented team focused on delivering managed services to customers leveraging Ubuntu and open-source products. The BootStack team is responsible for designing, building, and operating modern distributed systems on private infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a growing engineering team to optimize the quality and velocity of development and operations.
  • Identify and measure team health indicators.
  • Implement disciplined engineering and operations processes.
  • Represent the BootStack team to stakeholders, customers, and external teams.
  • Ensure proper team focus on priorities, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Meet service level agreements with customer deployments globally.
  • Deliver quality managed services consistently and in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s (or equivalent) education in a technology field.
  • Proven experience in software delivery using Python, Go, C, C++, Java, or similar technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience managing operations teams and working with OpenStack.
  • Strong commitment to testing methodologies and maintainable code quality.
  • Experience with Linux system administration; Ubuntu/Debian knowledge is a plus.
  • Strong communication and cooperation skills.
  • Familiarity with agile software development methodologies.
  • Experience in managing distributed teams and understanding complex distributed systems.
  • Understanding of cloud topologies and technologies.

Work Conditions:

  • Remote work environment with optional in-person team sprints twice a year.
  • Travel to team and company events and customer meetings, approximately 20% or less.
