Python Software Engineer, Commercial Systems

About the Job:
Canonical is a leading provider of open-source software and operating systems, widely recognized for its platform, Ubuntu. We are pioneers in global distributed collaboration and are currently looking for a Python Software Engineer at any seniority level. This role is essential in maintaining high engineering quality and fostering continuous skill development.

As a member of the Commercial Systems unit, you will work closely with five engineering teams to design, develop, and operate automation solutions. Specifically, you will be part of the Integrations team, responsible for automating SAAS user management and integrating data sources into our data mesh. This position involves developing Python-based solutions that help facilitate data-driven decision-making within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop engineering solutions utilizing Python
• Collaborate on technical designs and code reviews
• Deploy and manage developed services
• Depending on your seniority, provide coaching and mentorship
• Promote effective engineering and organizational practices

Requirements:

• Exceptional academic record and a degree in a technical subject (or a compelling alternative narrative)
• Proven experience in software development using Python
• Professional written and spoken English, with excellent presentation skills
• Result-oriented with a commitment to meeting deadlines
• Ability to travel internationally for up to two weeks, twice a year

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Experience in performance engineering and security
• Familiarity with technologies like Airbyte, Ranger, Temporal, or Trino
