Position

The Workplace Engineering team at Canonical is a highly efficient group specializing in web architecture and analytics. This role involves building new tools, dashboards, and analytics that empower colleagues, managers, and executives to make better decisions and deliver improved work outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver web-based systems and SaaS solutions
  • Provide insights into the Canonical workplace experience
  • Enable new processes and improve existing workflows
  • Collaborate proactively with a distributed team
  • Write high-quality code for new features and debug existing issues
  • Conduct consistent code reviews for other engineers
  • Estimate work, set goals, and meet project completion criteria
  • Coach, mentor, and provide feedback to junior team members
  • Connect to various data sources and create insightful visualizations
  • Design architecture for connected systems
  • Develop new and improved corporate practices

Who You Are:

The ideal candidate will possess expertise in two or more of the following:

  • Backend web service programming in Python and Node.js
  • Understanding of web development technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Data analytics, statistical analysis, natural language processing, sentiment analysis, and machine learning
  • Data visualization

Candidates should have an analytical, data-driven mindset and a passion for connecting and interpreting interesting data from APIs. Leadership, excellence, and consistency are crucial, alongside a dedication to mentoring others on the team.
