About the Job: Drive the future of collaborative open-source development tooling as part of the Launchpad team. This role is an opportunity for a motivated engineer passionate about open-source software, Linux, and web services to join a distributed team. Launchpad is a platform for managing open-source development projects, offering code hosting, review, bug tracking, package building, translations, and more, essential for major projects like Ubuntu.

You will balance maintaining business-critical services with expanding the feature set, working on improving package building capabilities, enhancing user development flows, and modernizing the web UI. If you enjoy organizing large projects and supporting developers while believing that continuous improvement leads to innovation and reliability, this is the role for you.

Key Responsibilities: - Collaborate on design, architecture, and feature selection with distributed teams. - Write high-quality, API-first Python code with unit tests. - Debug issues and produce high-quality fixes. - Review code from other engineers. - Work remotely with global travel 2 to 4 times a year for events.

Who You Are: - You love technology, working with brilliant people, and solving interesting problems. - You are a strategic thinker who is curious, flexible, articulate, and accountable. - You hold a Bachelor's or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar degree. - You can deliver robust code to production, preferably in Python. - You are experienced in maintaining large, mature web applications and have expertise with databases, ORMs (with PostgreSQL as a plus), and data management. - You have an interest in or experience with integration, infrastructure, and operations. - You understand the importance of security in software delivery. - Familiarity with Ubuntu as a development and deployment platform is beneficial. - You possess a solid understanding of software packaging systems, including Debian/Ubuntu packages.

Work Conditions: - This is a full-time, remote role within the EMEA region. Candidates must be located within this area.
